Home to the nationally acclaimed University of the Pacific, Stockton's emphasis on higher learning is evident. Stockton is home two universities, a junior college, and a handful of technical and trade schools.

Next-door is the Stockton Arena, home to the Stockton Thunder of the East Coast Hockey League, and af2's Stockton Lightning.

Stockton is also known for it's diverse cultural communities, with some of the largest Southeast Asian, African American and Hispanic sects in the Central Valley.
